Yesterday I had a craving for cake and let me tell you, satiating this craving turned out to be QUITE the project! I decided I was hungry for a yellow cake with chocolate swirls so I started flipping through my new cookbook that I got for my birthday (thanks to Jane) and found a recipe. Problem. This recipe called for three eggs and my refrigerator was only accommodating two. I had to hunt for a new recipe and this meant using my favorite tool the internet. I found several recipes that called for five or more eggs so they were the exact opposite of what I needed but I was lucky enough (or so I thought) to find one recipe that fit my needs so the baking began. As I was mixing the ingredients I thought that batter seemed really thick and heavy but I thought it was just that I hadnt made a cake from scratch in such a long time so I poured the slop into the pan and let it bake for 30-40 minutes. Now lets fast forward to the part where I take the cake out of the oven. It was flat and dense and anything but the golden fluffy delight I had been waiting for I decided not to waste any more ingredients or time to frost it so I threw the whole thing into the garbage. Problem. I still wanted cake. Its lucky for me that I have the worlds greatest boyfriend so a simple, could you please pick up eggs on your way home? email resulted in the delivery of eggs AND pizza which meant I was FINALLY able to make an actual cake and it turned out the way a cake is SUPPOSED to. By the way, my cake problems reminded me of the time Jane made a boxed cake mix back in college but forgot to add the eggs. That cake tasted a million times better than yesterdays first cake
