A older student of Justin's invited him to her family's Thanksgiving Morning Brunch. He was allowed to bring a guest and since he told me he'd be bringing his girlfriend and not just a friend or somebody he picked up in the street on the way in I went too. This brunch was at 10am so I was expecting a more breakfasty brunch than the ham, scalloped potatoes, and other savory things that we were served. Don't get me wrong, the food was good, it just wasn't what I was expecting. I also got to meet some pretty bizarre people during the 1.5 hours we were there including one woman who I'm convinced is LEGALLY crazy and her equally if not more crazy boyfriend. The other person I spent the most time talking to was a doctor who seemed to be the most normal person in this bunch of super Catholic Republicans. I only got asked if I was at this morning's mass twice so that was good and most of the conversations I had revolved around how young and pretty I am - nice ego boost I suppose but such conversation makes me uncomfortable. The other funny thing (at least to me) was the one-word answers with no explanation that I had to give people. Because Justin and I are still "in the closet" as far as school is concerned I felt I had no choice but to have conversations like the following: other guest: so did you and justin meet at umd? me: yes other guest: do you teach there too? me: no I felt kinda bad but I didn't think these people would be interested to know that I started dating my professor during my junior year! :-P Justin's over at his second Thanksgiving of the day but this I'm not able to attend as it's at the home of a colleague who was also a professor of mine. I think I'm gonna go shave my legs and then maybe throw in a movie but you're welcome to go ahead and read some previous entries as I've done a little back-blogging...
