the weather outside is frightful

I actually think it worked out better this way. Because it was just the four of us we had lots of time to talk to them whereas itll be impossible to get more than a couple of uninterrupted minutes with them next weekend because the whole family will be there and wanting a piece of them.
We had a big dinner (on the fine china no less) and then exchanged gifts. Yes, I do realize that Im an Atheist and that I dont believe in whatever this nonsense is that most of you celebrate on the 24th and 25th of this month so it makes no sense to be exchanging gifts. However, my grandparents do the gift thing and I think its a fine excuse to do something a little extra nice for two of my favoritest people.
Anyway, onto the frightful weather...
When we got up this morning just before 9:00am the outdoor thermometer said it was -21. Thats right people, twenty-one degrees BELOW zero!! I didnt dare ask what it was with the wind chill. It has since warmed up to 0 degrees but with the wind chill it feels more like -7. Tell me WHY people live here??? Whos idea was it to set up homes and businesses here? Northen Minnesota is NOT meant to be inhabited!
On that note I am counting the minutes until we leave for our winter vacation! I am MORE than ready for a week of sun, no snow, and a pool with a bar IN it. Thats right, I can swim in the pool AND get drinks - Ill never have to get out of the water! Well, except to pee because peeing in a pool just ain right... |
