Thanks to yesterdays ice storm, my sister got SCREWED. She went out to her car today to leave for work and sure enough, some ASSWIPE had plowed into the driver's side door and front panel. And if that wasnt bad enough, the scumbag DIDN'T BOTHER TO LEAVE A NOTE!!!
My poor sister is just a kid who busts her ass at two different jobs to make ends meet which means a large unexpected car repair is NOT something she needs. Just last summer some lady hit her car in a parking lot but she was in the car when it happened and it was the other persons fault so the hitters insurance had to pay for the repairs to her car. The cost? About $3,000. Apparently doors and front panels are expensive and, wouldnt ya know it, todays newly discovered damage looks exactly the same as that of the summer.
She called the police (non-emergency customer service desk) today and they basically told her she was fucked. They told her that unless she had a witness that there wasnt a damn thing she could do. However, they did invite her down to fill out a report for no reason. She only has liability on her car so its not like submitting the police report to her insurance company will do anything but elicit another youre fucked response.
Weve yet to explore MNs no-fault whateverness but Im sure that, too, will do nothing. I suppose shell just have to figure out a way to get her drivers side door to open from the outside (currently it can only be opened from the inside) and just live with a banged up car. A friend suggested she try a technical or community college to see if they have a body shop class that would be willing to fix her precious Mustang for cheap so thats probably going to be her best bet at this point.
Her life is tough enough as it is so why's this shit always gotta happen to her?!?
In other (non-crappy) news, today is Glamslams
