Yesterday was Fathers Day and my parents invited us (meaning Justin and myself) along with my grandparents on my fathers side and my sister to the lake for a turkey dinner. The dinner was to celebrate Fathers Day and to welcome us (again, meaning Justin and myself) back from New York as no one other than my sister had seen us since our wedding - exactly 30 days ago. My grandparents were awesome as usual especially my grandma who I am quite convinced really IS the worlds best grandma. My parents were surprisingly pleasant and Im pretty sure we all had a good time. I know, I know, you were hoping for some crazy story from yesterdays gathering fear not, its coming in the next paragraph. Because Justin and I had an intimate (12 guests) wedding ceremony there are a significant number of relatives and friends of the family who either feel a) left out or b) anxious to see us in person and congratulate us. What this means is that my parents are going to throw us a reception/party thingy in August. I thought this would be an open house type deal with some buffet-style food and a few hours of socializing and saying, Justin, this is uncle so-and-so...uncle so-and-so, this is my husband, Justin. As more time passes the more I realize just how insane this gathering is going to be. My mother is arranging to have huge outdoor tents set up as well as DJs to provide the entertainment. Oh yeah, and the most hilarious thing of all (or at least so far)? Shes hiring A PROFESSIONAL PHOTOGRAPHER TO COVER THE PARTY!!! Ah hahahahaha! Who the hell are we that were having the type of party that needs to be covered by a professional fucking photographer?!? Today is June 16th and the party isnt until August 30th that leaves sooooooo many days for the insanity to increase so stick close and Ill keep you posted...
