If you're a reader of Chuckies I'm sure you remember this rant about stupid kids who can't make change. Well, lemme tell ya, it's NOT just kids and it's not just in Virginia. Yes, I AM fully aware of the fact that stupid people of all ages live in every part of the world, but how is it that they ALL end up working behind cash registers? Yesterday Justin and I went to Michaels so he could buy another canvas and some more tubes of paint. The total came to $26.72 and Justin thought this would be the PEFEFECT opportunity to unload the hundred dollar bill that came in a wedding card a few weeks ago as it had been just sitting in his wallet. The checkout lady (who was about 60 years old) didnt have enough money in the register to give Justin the $73.28 he was owed so she had to ask a manager to bring her change. Normally when this happens you have to wait, at most, two minutes but not this time. It took FOREVER and communication with two different employees before change finally showed up. The wait was so long that another customer behind us actually offered to make change for us! One might think thats the end of the story and then wonder WHY I thought it was cheeseworthy but its NOT the end of the story and what Im about to write WILL be cheeseworthy: The checkout lady was given $100 in smaller bills (which still included a fifty) and instead of putting it into the register and handing Justin the $73.28 wed been waiting for she handed him the $100 and said, heres your change and now you owe me (getting out the receipt and calculator) $26.72. WHAT THE HELL?? Could she not have just given him $73.28 and sent us on our way? Of COURSE not! THAT would have been too easy! Instead Justin handed her a twenty, a ten, and then we waited some more so she could figure out that she owed him $3.28! I realize that one can never outrun stupid but man, weve GOT to get outta here... |
