all I got for x-mas

Being an atheist at x-mastime is fun because you get all the gifts and all the food without all of the religious nonsense :-) This year I got some pretty good stuff! Im sure if youre reading this slice you also read my previous one about the joy that is, or rather WILL BE since it hasnt arrived yet, my mixer. My mixer, even though it isnt here yet, is my favoritest gift how could it not be? Other highlights include: 1. The new Rufus Wainwright CD I got from my sister. And man, Im TOTALLY gonna wear out Track #7 so look for another slice some time in the near future about me having to go out and buy myself a replacement disc. 2. A super chic lookin shiny black photo frame (also from my sister) which, temporarily, is displaying gift certificates for pizza :-) 3. I/we got a grill pan from Justins parents and Im eager to try that thing out but also kinda nervous as Ive never used one before. My first attempt to use it will be tomorrow when I try another first making beef negimaki. 4. My grandparents didnt do so well this holiday season. Gift #1? A one-quart casserole dish with cover thats just a little too country for my tastes. Sure a dish is a dish and it is certainly something I can use just not the design I would have selected for myself. And did I mention that its a casserole dish from LONGABERGER? And did I mention that my cousin is conveniently a dealer/representative/whatever they call themselves of Longaberger products? Well, she is so thats the reason behind the fact that my mother, sister, and aunt got Longaberger products as gifts too. Gift #2 from the grandparents was yet ANOTHER set of four, count em, FOUR porcelain kitten ornaments complete with golden halos and feathery angel wings just like the set last year. (To refresh your memory, read this old slice) I know the package SAYS that these are four DIFFERENT kittens but eh, theyre all the same to me useless garbage. 5. Cash, sweet cash! Being on the stupid get-my-blood-pressure-and-cholesterol-down diet made for a lack of excitement in the food department this year as I was fully aware of every crumb that crossed my lips and most of those crumbs were real food and NOT the cookies etc. that I wanted to be eating. Well, I hope yall had a grand time celebrating whatever calendar holiday it is you choose to celebrate and that if youre an atheist, like me, someone gave you gifts anyway... |
