happy thanksgiving

I don't have to make OR eat turkey today - YEAH!! Not that I couldn't make one and not that I don't like turkey because I could make one and I would eat it because I DO like it. However, Thanksgiving has never been a real "thing" in my family - it's was just a Thursday in November that we had off from work or school. Besides a big turkey dinner wasnt that special anyway because, unlike most families, my mom would make a full holiday-type meal on several random Sundays throughout the year so it wasnt like a Thanksgiving meal would be full of things I only got to eat once or twice a year.
We decided to stay home this year for multiple reasons:
1. My family doesnt really do Thanksgiving.
We, obviously, knew well in advance that the husband would not be up to going out this week so I asked him several weeks ago what hed like for Thanksgiving and told him Id see what The Cute One (a.k.a. my sister) was doing and let her know that she had an open invitation to join us for whatever it was we'd be eating.
I suggested to my husband that perhaps I should just pick up a turkey breast. It seemed kinda silly to buy a whole turkey because my dinner table wouldnt have more than three people who only eat white meat seated around it. Besdies, only 50% of my two-person household eats leftovers - the 50% who doesnt is me because, well, EEEWWW! But during all of this turkey talk the husband cut me off and said something to the effect of, ya know, we dont have to have turkey and stuff...I wouldnt mind having something else. The something else that was decided on by the husband and my sister? A homemade pizza! HAHA!
Thats right ladies and gentlemen, on the menu for Thanksgiving 2004 at my house are the following items:
1. Homemade cheese pizza (and by homemade I do mean that Im making the crust from scratch, thats right, with yeast and rising time and all that stuff).
I realize that our feast today is not exactly traditional but who knows, I might keep this menu for next year and make this OUR tradition - I have my own family and house now so I can do that if I want to and no one can yell at me because we get to make our own rules so :-P
In other news, the husband is healing remarkably well and feels a great deal better with each passing day. Hes already down to only having to take one pain pill as needed compared to the two pain pills every four hours round the clock when we first brought him home. I expect hell make a full recovery.
So far the only problems are that the pills make him sleepy and that hes getting really stir-crazy. He, unlike me, is not used to being indoors for this many days in a row - thank goodness we have things like this, this, and this to keep him distracted between naps.
