Im not going to talk much about this pope nonsense because I just dont have the energy to get into it, but I am so glad its finally over! Its been absolutely ridiculous these past couple of weeks and the last two days in particular. Was it so important to cut into every single channel on my TV just to watch a bunch of crying psychos stare at a chimney? Besides, none of them could tell what color the damn smoke was anyway. And really, whats the big deal with the whole situation in the first place? I mean really, so the pope died, people were sad, blah blah etc. but does it really matter? Not really - theyll just blindly follow this new guy like the sheep that they are. And all of the security and secrecy leading up to todays announcement? What for? Like the world would have come to an end had his name been leaked out before the smoke? Bottom line, its just another creepy old man in a funny hat preaching stupidity to the masses. In other, more interesting news, the second iSight arrived today so well get it set up and then do the first official run with us both having cameras tomorrow when the husband is at school. If things go as planned (and I expect they will) well be able to see and hear each other live despite the fact that hell be in his office and Ill be at home - oh the possibilities! I realize that hes only away for a couple of hours each day and that he works less hours in a week than most people work in a day but we do miss each other when hes gone and are very glad when he gets home. Im hoping with the iSight that it will make the brief time that he is away seem like even less. In other other news, I got hit on by a woman today (in cyberspace) which was interesting because its never happened to me before. Thanks to Freerange and his use of My Space I had to register and set up a profile, photo, etc. People seem to skip over the part that says Im MARRIED and that I have no interest in making new friends via this little community. Ive twice been sent messages from guys saying this, that, and the other thing and then they offered to chat more via email or instant message. However, todays message was from a 24-year-old woman in Dallas who said I was a hottie and that I should add her to my buddy list so we can talk. Apparently she missed the part that says Im STRAIGHT and MARRIED and NOT LOOKING FOR ANYONE. I laughed and promptly deleted her message. I can only hope shes not too terribly heart broken :-P Outside of that theres not a whole lot going on around here. School is coming to an end which means the husband only has to finish this week and then two more before he starts vacation!! Did I mention this vacation will be 256 days long? Or that once he goes back in late January he only has to work seven weeks before getting another week of paid vacation? And that after that vacation he only has to work another seven weeks before his usual (almost) four months of summer vacation? Its a good thing were so unhealthily obsessed with each other because wed probably be in store for 256 days of driving each other crazy were it not for that... |
