cute excuses

I swear to you I have the best excuse for not updating (and for letting my domain expire - sorry if you thought cheese died, but I renewed so were good to go) for such a long time - quite possibly the best excuse I've ever had, promise. I don't have the long version of the story done just yet but I'll give you the short version and a few photos for now.
January 12th I woke up with a headache that wouldnt go away. I still had said headache on January 13th and my blood pressure was suddenly waaaaay too high so I called my doctor and she had me come in. I ended up being admitted that evening and I didnt get released until January 28th because I almost died a few times - you know, pesky little things like heart failure, liver failure, kidney failure, and having literally liters and liters of fluid in and around my lungs.
During my hospital stay my son (did I forget to mention I was pregnant? :-P ) was born via emergency c-section (complete with ambulance ride!) at just 32 weeks and 3 days gestation. He wasnt supposed to arrive until sometime around March 11th but apparently January 18th was when he needed to be here.
Introducing...
Max Bennett Rubin
Max is doing very well and it sounds like hell be coming home from the NICU sometime next week which is both exciting and scary at the same time. A full-term newborn had us nervous enough (in a good way of course) but now weve got a preemie! :-O Hes up in weight to approximately 4 pounds and 12 ounces and yesterday he was moved from the incubator and into a regular open-air crib! Hell have to stay in the NICU until hes able to do a better/more consistent job of maintaining his body temperature and he also needs to be able to take all of his feedings from a bottle rather than that little blue tube you see going into his nose. Occasionally hell take the whole thing (meaning an ounce and a half) but more often than not he gets through about half before hes just too exhausted and he passes out with his mouth open - lol. So yeah, Ive been busy... |
